Bodymaster Practitioner DipBmP

A Bodymaster Method Practitioner understands and treats the whole body as a complex integrated unit, where one dysfunction can set off a series of compensations which often trigger pain and dysfunction elsewhere. It is a unique combination of different therapy techniques designed to remove pain and restore mobility whilst working in harmony with the complexities of the human body.

As a Practitioner I aim to work out the cause of the pain rather than just treating the presenting symptoms; this may involve using therapy techniques from a variety of manual therapy disciplines. Ultimately, I place emphasis on advising the client on how to self-manage their condition; through re-education of movement patterns to improve posture and appropriate strengthening or stretching exercises.

Treatments include -

  • Muscle Energy Techniques
  • Soft tissue release and mobilisation
  • Joint mobilisation
  • Kinesiology taping
  • Postural Assessment
  • Rehabilitation stretching and strengthening

Muscle Energy Techniques

This is a form of stretching used to lengthen postural muscles resulting in improved function and reduction in pain. Our increasingly sedentary lifestyles cause muscles to shorten when seated for long  periods ,this plays a major part in creating muscle imbalance within the body and a consequent lengthening of the antagonistic muscles, which eventually results in a change in function and the development of pain.
