Orthotics and Insoles

A foot orthotic works  by increasing the efficiency with which the foot functions. This altered function  affects the whole lower limb, pelvis and back therefore improving the bodies posture and ability to function without injury.

The insoles are put into  shoes to alter the way the foot functions; so it realigns, cushions and balances the foot. A variety of different materials can be used depending on many factors such as activity levels, weight, age and  the shoe type of the patient. The insoles are customised to the feet in the clinic at the time of prescription.

Children can be safely treated with appropriate insoles.

Conditions that can be treated with insoles

  • Shin splints
  • Heel Pain
  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Knee pain
  • Hip pain
  • Achilles Tendonitis
  • Flat feet

Pressure Analysis

The high tech pressure mat allows examination of the plantar pressure through the soles of your feet throughout the gait cycle. It gives detailed analysis of pressure distribution and timing between the left and right foot and of the forefoot to rearfoot relationship. This is especially useful when looking at inequalities in leg length and Asymmetrical  Overload Syndrome.
